Man shot in frightening road rage incident

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot in the finger following a violent road rage incident at Regents Park last night.

About 7.10pm Tuesday 3 November 2015, a 28-year-old man was travelling north along Joseph Street in a white Lexus sedan.

It’s believed a black Audi sedan, with the number 67 as the last two digits on the number plates, was travelling in front of the Lexus when it suddenly stopped, causing the Lexus to stop behind it.

The male driver of the Audi left the vehicle and became involved in a verbal argument with the driver of the Lexus. The argument escalated to a physical altercation, before a second male approached the pair from the Audi, armed with a firearm.

The 28-year-old man attempted to get hold of the firearm, when it was discharged, hitting his finger. The pair from the Audi fled the scene, and were last seen driving north along Joseph Street.

The injured man attended Bankstown Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Flemington Local Area Command were called and are investigating the incident.

As they continue their inquiries, police would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist them.

The first is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 188cm tall, of slim build, aged in his 30s and clean shaven.

The second male is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 155cm tall, of chubby build, and clean shaven.
