Man stabbed while nursing baby on Sunshine Coast street

A MAN is recovering in hospital this evening after being stabbed multiple times in a frenzied attack while holding a 9-month-old baby in his arms on the Sunshine Coast.

The incident occurred outside a house in Maroochydore at around 2pm on Friday.

In a statement, police said the 42-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times in the back during an argument with another man.

Police said the victim was holding a 9-month-old baby in his arms and was seated in a vehicle when he was knifed.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before rushing him to Nambour Hospital. Thankfully, the baby escaped uninjured.

The house was cordoned off and declared a crime scene.

Police are now searching for the victim’s attacker who police said fled the scene in a white Holden Commodore station wagon.

The victim remains in hospital and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Although physically uninjured, the 9-month-old baby was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
