Teen charged after alleged daylight stabbing attack at Robina

UPDATE @ September 28, 7.00am | A 17-year-old boy has been charged over the alleged brazen daylight stabbing of a man at Robina.

The 26-year-old man was riding an electric scooter with a friend along a footpath running parallel to Robina Town Centre Drive around 11.15am on Friday, when he was randomly approached by the masked teen.

Police say that without speaking, the teen has allegedly slashed the knife towards the man as he rode past, wounding him under his right armpit.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers rushed to the scene and patrolled the area, arresting a 17-year-old Robina boy at Huntingdale Crescent around midday.

A police spokesperson told myGC the teen has since been charged with wounding in a public place while affected by an intoxicating substance and going armed so as to cause fear.

He will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

EARLIER @ September 27, 3.00pm | Police have arrested a 17-year-old man in relation to a stabbing attack that took place outside Robina Town Centre this morning.

Around 11.15am, a 26-year-old Southport man and a friend were riding electric scooters along a footpath near the centre, when they were approached at the Collyer Quays  intersection by a masked man armed with a knife.

Police will allege that without speaking, the masked man then slashed the knife towards the pair as they rode past, resulting in the 26-year-old man sustaining a minor stab-wound to his right armpit.

The 17-year-old then allegedly chased the pair for a short distance, before they managed to ride away and notify police.

Police were then called in, and after patrolling the area, arrested a 17-year-old Robina boy at Huntingdale Crescent around midday.

The 26-year-old Southport man was treated by paramedics at the scene, before he was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Investigations continue.

FIRST @ September 27, @12.30pm | A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in an alleged brazen attack outside a shopping centre in Robina.

Emergency crews rushed to Robina Town Centre Drive just before 11.30am on Friday, after receiving reports of an armed juvenile on the streets.

A man, aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene by paramedics for arm injuries.

He has since been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A police spokesperson told myGC a male juvenile was taken into custody by officers on Huntingdale Crescent a short time later.

Investigations are ongoing.
