A MAN has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the neck by a stranger asking for smokes on the Gold Coast.
It’s understood the attack took place on Marina Parade in Coolangatta about 2am on Friday.
Police said they were called to reports of two men fighting on the street outside an apartment block.

It’s understood two young men approached a 41-year-old man and asked him for a cigarette but the man refused.
That’s when it’s alleged one of the two men stabbed the older man in the neck.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Tweed Hospital.
Queensland Ambulance told myGC the man was transported in a stable condition.
Paramedics said the man was lucky to escape with only “minor lacerations to his neck and arm”.
A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed officers spoke with a man at the scene but said no arrests were made.
Police are investigating the incident and are pleading with anyone that may have information to come forward.
