Man stabbed in the neck after finding burglar in his garage

A man has been stabbed in the neck after disturbing a burglar rummaging through the garage of his home in regional Victoria.

Police said the 30-year-old man disturbed the armed intruder in the garage of his Imperial Court home at California Gully in Bendigo just before 10.30pm.

“An altercation took place between the victim and the burglar which resulted in the victim sustaining stab wounds to his neck and hands,” police said in a statement.

The 30-year-old man was rushed to Bendigo Hospital with serious injuries.

The offender allegedly fled the scene in the victim’s car, a distinctive black Jeep Cherokee.

The Jeep was spotted by a member of the public in the Myola area this morning.

After receiving a tip off from the public, police raced to the area and arrested a 26-year-old Bendigo man.

He remains in custody.

No charges have yet been laid.
