Man struck and killed by car in freak accident on pedestrian crossing

A MAN has been struck and killed by a car in a freak accident on a pedestrian crossing in Sydney’s west.

The 25-year-old was using the designated pedestrian crossing on Silverwater Road, at the on-ramp to the M4 in Auburn, around 8am on Saturday when two vehicles collided on the street.

The force of the impact caused one of the vehicle’s, a Mazda 2, to careen out-of-control and hit the man on the crossing.

The 25-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Westmead Hospital where he sadly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.
