Heavy showers and thunderstorms have been streaming in off the ocean throughout the afternoon.
The storms are not, however, considered severe enough to warrant a severe thunderstorm warning.
All thunderstorms generally produce lightning, and many produce gusty winds, brief heavy showers, and hail.
The Weather Bureau is monitoring the situation closely and will only issue a warning if storms are expected to produce damaging winds greater than 90km/h, hailstones wider than 2cm, flooding rain or tornadoes.
