Man suffers serious burns after throwing accelerant on fire

A man has been rushed to hospital after he threw accelerant onto a fire at a home on the Gold Coast overnight.

Emergency crews were called to a home in Southport just after 8.30pm, following reports a man had suffered significant burns.

Upon arrival, paramedics found a man aged in his 50s with burns to his upper body.


He was treated on scene by Critical Care Paramedics and the High Acuity Response Unit before being taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed he was transported in a serious but stable condition.
