Man suffers serious head injury in ‘one-punch’ attack on the Gold Coast

A MAN is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was allegedly punched to the ground during a fight at a club on the Gold Coast last night.

The incident is believed to have occurred at the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club on Gleneagles Drive at Hope Island around 6.45pm.

It’s understood a verbal argument between two men at the club escalated into a physical fight, during which a 56-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face.


Police said the 56-year-old sustained a serious head injury after falling backwards and striking his head on the ground.

He was stabilised by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
