UPDATE at 11:55 AM | POLICE have released body-cam vision of the moment a man who allegedly threatened officers with a knife was arrested in Surfers Paradise.
The dramatic scenes unfolded on the corner of Remembrance Drive and Clifford Street on Saturday night.
The vision (below) shows police pouncing on the 29-year-old man after he lost control of a stolen BMW and smashed into a brick wall outside an apartment building about 10pm.

It’s alleged the man stole the luxury sedan from a home in Shailer Park on April 11 and was spotted by police filling it up at a service station in Goodna about 8.45pm last night.
Officers went to arrest the man but it’s alleged he pulled out a knife and threatened them before speeding off.
Police said the man allegedly tried refuelling the stolen BMW again on his way to the Gold Coast.
His time on the run, however, was short lived after he lost control of the stolen car in Surfers Paradise and crashed into an oncoming car before smashing into the Voco building.
The man has been charged with a list of offences and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
FIRST at 6:30 AM (by Rachel Junge) | DRAMATIC scenes have unfolded on the Gold Coast, as police captured a man who had allegedly gone on a rampage in a stolen BMW and threatened officers with a knife.
It’s alleged the 29-year-old had stolen the luxury vehicle from a home in Shailer Park on April 11.
Police spotted the grey BMW at a BP service station on Brisbane Road in Goodna around 8.45pm on Saturday and approached the man before attempting to arrest him.
However, the man allegedly threatened police with a knife before speeding off from the service station.
According to Police he made attempts to refuel the BMW a number of times, before trying to car-jack other vehicles on his way to the Gold Coast.
Polair 2 later located the stolen car in Surfers Paradise. The Police helicopter followed it to Clifton Street and Remembrance Drive, where it had collided with another vehicle around 10.45pm.
A witness on the scene told myGC the man tried to drive off, but instead went straight into a brick wall.
He then got out of the car and “threatened to hurt the Police, before they took him down with a taser,” the witness said.
Police have confirmed, the man was tasered and has since been charged with dangerous operation of motor vehicle, unlawful use of motor vehicle, attempted unlawful entry to a car, obstruct police and possession of dangerous drug.
Police are continuing their investigations in relation to unrelated offences.
The man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
