Man tasered after trying to attack police with beer bottles

A MAN will front Court on Thursday morning accused of trying to attack police officers with beer bottles in Southport.

Officers were called to a Ewan Street home at 1.25am on Thursday after reports a man was acting in a drunk and disoderly manner.

Police allege when they arrived he became aggressive and threatened officers with two empty beer bottles.


He’s then accused of charging towards police and was susequently tasered, dropping the bottles to the ground and falling on the shattered glass.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment on minor cuts.

He’s been charged with two counts of assaulting police along with public nuisance and is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
