Man threatened with gun, bashed with bolt cutters in violent home invasion

POLICE are searching for two men following a violent home invasion on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.

It’s alleged two men stormed a home in Highland Park around 11.20pm and threatened a male occupant with a gun.

Police say the resident was then bashed with a pair of bolt cutters before the intruders ransacked the house.

The armed duo allegedly stole a number of items before fleeing the scene.

Paramedics were called and assessed the victim at the scene before transporting him to hospital where he was treated for a severe laceration to his forearm.

Police say the large wound was caused by the bolt cutters.

Officers swooped on the scene but were unable to locate the intruders, despite conducting extensive searches of the area. They remain on the run from police.

Investigators have released CCTV vision of the two intruders in the hope someone may recognise them.

The first is described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his late 20’s while the second is described as Caucasian with a heavy build and aged in his 30s.

The younger man was wearing gloves and a hoodie over the head during the assault, while the older had grey wavy hair and was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and shorts.

Anyone who may have seen the men or witnessed anything suspicious in the vicinity at the time of the incident is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
