Man threatened with sharpened PVC pipe in frightening robbery

A 24-year-old man has been robbed of his personal belongings and had money taken from his bank account during an incident in Hurstville yesterday.

About 6.30pm (Monday 13 July 2015), the man was walking along Hillcrest Avenue when he was approached from behind by a man armed with a sharpened piece of PVC pipe.

The man threatened the 24-year-old, grabbing him around the neck while demanding his wallet and phone which were taken out of his back pocket.

He was then walked to a nearby ATM where he was forced to withdraw an amount of cash from his account.

He was walked back to his home where the man threatened the victim’s flatmate while demanding more cash.

No further money was taken, and the man ran from the premises heading east along Hillcrest Avenue.

No one was hurt during the incident, and a full investigation is now underway.

He has been described as being 180cm tall with a large build and wearing a grey long sleeve t-shirt, dark pants and white ‘Nike’ shoes.
