Man tortured, bound, belted, strangled and soaked in fuel in horror attack

A MAN has been arrested and charged over the horrific torture of a man at a house north of Brisbane.

The barbaric five-hour attack allegedly took place inside a house at Deception Bay on Saturday morning.

Police say the 21-year-old victim was lured into the Lockyer Parade home by a man known to him around 9.30am.

Once inside, the man and a second unknown male allegedly brutally bashed the 21-year-old and stripped him of his personal possessions.

He was then taken into another room of the house where police say he was allegedly bound to a chair and belted over the head with a metal object before being soaked in petrol and strangled.

More than five hours later, around 3pm, police say the man was led out of the house and ordered to get into the boot of a car however managed to escape and seek help from a neighbouring resident.

Police were called and raced to the scene where they spoke with the victim and arrested a 29-year-old man.

He has since been charged with one count each of armed robbery, deprivation of liberty and torture.

The accused will front Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 21-year-old victim sustained injuries to his face and hands during the prolonged assault and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Investigations into the attack are continuing.
