Man turns violent after card declines while trying to buy cigarettes

POLICE are appealing for help to identify a man after a Marsden Service Station employee was assaulted during a robbery in the early hours of Friday morning.

Around 3.40am, a man entered a petrol station on Chambers Flat Road and attempted to purchase a packet of cigarettes.

Police said the man’s payment declined so he grabbed the cigarettes and attempted to leave the store.

He was confronted by an employee who he then allegedly assaulted before fleeing on foot towards Kingston Road.

The man, who was wearing a white T-shirt, dark shorts and a white beanie, remains on the run.
