Man ‘using mobile while driving’ leads cops to $45 million worth of ICE

A man using his mobile phone while driving has lead police to discover and seize almost 90kg of ICE, with an estimated street value of almost $45 million.

Police say that a 26-year-old man was pulled over on Thomas Street in Haymarket on Friday after he was spotted using his mobile phone.

A search of his vehicle, allegedly uncovered 3kg of ICE which has an estimated street value of $1.2 million.

His arrest then lead to the discovery of a further 87kg of ICE and $1.4 million in cash at homes in St Johns Park.

Two other men, aged 30 and 26, were arrested and charged with multiple offences including knowingly dealing in the proceeds of crime, and possess a prohibited drug.

All three men were refused bail to appear in court at a later date.
