An Adelaide man who operated on his dog with a kitchen knife has been sentenced to a month behind bars.
The 45-year-old from West Hindmarsh was convicted after he tried to cut out a large cancers from his 18-year-old cattle dog’s shoulder in June last year.
According to the RSCPA, the dog was left with an open would and had to be euthanised after being rescued from the home.

The man pleaded guilty to the ill treatment of an animal causing death or serious harm.
He was sentenced to one month in jail and banned from owning animals for life in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court.
