Man who stabbed mum to death with samurai sword loses murder appeal

A MAN who stabbed his mother to death with a samurai sword more than 20 times has lost a bid to have his murder conviction overturned.

Horace Larenzo Lyken Jones was sentenced to life in jail in December after being found guilty of killing Roxanne Gilbert in 2012.

Mr Jones is alleged to have brutally attacked his mother during an argument at a Gladstone home on June 29.

During the trial, the court heard that the pair had a rocky relationship, with Jones the subject of violence from his mother on a number of occasions.

Jones argued in the Court of Appeal in Brisbane earlier this year that there was a miscarriage of justice, however the court dismissed the appeal on Tuesday.
