Man will stay behind bars after alleged stabbing at Surfers Paradise pub
A Gold Coast man accused of stabbing another man at a popular Surfers Paradise pub on the weekend has been remanded in custody.
Zachary Skerry has been charged with grievous bodily harm after allegedly stabbing a 29-year-old man in the neck at the Surfers Paradise Beergarden.
Police say the victim was left with substantial, but not life threatening wounds.
The attack occurred during an all-in brawl after the Mayweather and McGregor boxing match, which was broadcast at the venue.
Queensland Police Inspector, Jim Plowman said there was nothing more to the fight than drunks “having a bit of a dust up”.
The matter has been adjourned until September 19.
