Man winched out of Sunshine Coast National Park after fall

A man has been winched to safety after he fell several metres down an embankment on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The 22-year-old suffered multiple injuries, including head, neck and leg injuries after he slipped and fell at the national park at Sunshine Beach.

It’s understood he lost consciousness for a short time before emergency services arrived.

Due to the remote location, the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called to assist at around 2.15pm.

The rescue helicopter quickly located the injured man and winched the on-board Critical Care Doctor and Flight Paramedic down to treat the patient at the scene.

He was then winched into the aircraft on a stretcher and flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
