Man and woman allegedly claimed more than $650K in fraudulent bets

A man and woman are due to face court today charged with allegedly claiming more than $650,000 in fraudulent bets.

Police in Sydney’s west arrested the pair last month following an ongoing investigation into the theft of money through fraudulent betting tickets.

The 34-year-old woman was taken into custody while leaving a betting agency at Wentworthville on Sunday 17 July, while a 35-year-old man was arrested at a betting agency at Granville on the same day.

Police allege the pair defrauded the agencies on 31 occasions between 2013 and 2016.

They are due to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
