Man and woman charged with extorting elderly Gold Coast woman

A man and woman have been charged after an elderly woman was terrorised on the Gold Coast.

Police say the pair were involved in three wilful damage incidents where the 72-year-old woman’s Bundall home was shot at in November and December last year and a flammable object was thrown at the front door of her property in February 2016.

The pair are also accused of making threats towards the woman last week, demanding she provide them with a large sum of cash.

Following ongoing investigations, a 35-year-old Broadbeach Waters man and a 44-year-old Labrador woman were both charged with one count each of extortion and two counts each of possession of dangerous drugs.

They are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on September 1.

Investigations are ongoing.
