Man, woman critically injured in crash

THE Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a single vehicle smash which has left two people in hospital with critical injuries in Far North Queensland.

It happened at Innot Hot Springs, 150km southwest of Cairns, around 3.45pm on Saturday.

Police said five Japanese Nationals were in the vehicle when it rolled on Herbert River Road near the Kennedy Highway.

The male driver and a 28-year-old female passenger were both critically injured, while three other passengers escaped with less serious wounds.

All five occupants are aged between 25 and 30 and were transported to Atherton Hospital for treatment.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.
