Man and woman slapped with drug charges at Ballina airport

A man and woman have been charged with drug offences by police investigating a supply operation in Lismore and surrounding areas.

Police from Richmond travelled to an airport in Ballina on Sunday morning where they spoke to a 38-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman.

Police searched the pair and their luggage, where they located, and seized, a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.

The man and woman were arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station.

After further investigations, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Martins Road, Larnook.

At the home officers found three unregistered firearms, ammunition, a stolen Holden Commodore Utility, substances thought to be drugs and cash.

The man has been charged with possess prohibited drug and supply commercial quantity of prohibited drug.

The woman has been charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug and supply commercial quantity of prohibited drug.

They will both appear before Lismore Local Court on Monday.
