UPDATE | Police have released CCTV footage of a brazen robbery on a Southport jewellery store as they hunt for three men.
The thieves, armed with a crowbar and what appears to be a sledgehammer, smashed their way into the Prouds jewellery store at Australia Fair just after 3.30am on Friday morning.
The men were only inside the store for a couple of minutes before fleeing with an amount of jewellery carried in a laundry basket.

Security guards at the shopping centre observed the break-in as it happened and notified Police.
The CCTV footage shows one of the thieves approaching one of the guards with the sledgehammer before a second man runs at the guard with a crowbar.
The thieves later fled in a stolen black 2008 BMW 120I with Queensland registration 508 LCD.
Police have confirmed the vehicle was stolen from a house at Rochedale sometime between 11.59pm on Thursday night and 3am on Friday morning.

EARLIER by Shanee Dobeson | Investigations are underway after a Southport jewellery store was targeted by thieves in an early morning break-in.
Police were called to a shopping centre along Marine Parade around 3.30am following reports a jewellery shop inside the centre had been broken into.
The alleged offenders smashed their way into the shop with an unknown implement, leaving a trail of destruction.
They then targeted jewellery inside the store, but a police spokesperson told myGC it’s “unclear at this time what has been stolen”
Investigations are ongoing.
