Man arrested after girl, 11, assaulted in Sydney gaming arcade

UPDATE @ 10.30AM | Police have taken a man in to custody after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly indecently assaulted at a gaming arcade in Sydney.

It’s alleged the man approached the young girl in the arcade at a Haymarket shopping centre around 2.00pm on Sunday and assaulted her.

She ran to her family and told them what happened and they contacted police.


After earlier releasing hotos of a man they had been searching for, detectives this morning arrested a 51-year-old at a shopping centre in Darling Harbour, and has been taken to Day Street Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.

EARLIER @ 0700AM | Police have released images of a man they wish to speak to after a young girl was allegedly indecently assaulted at a gaming arcade in Sydney on Sunday.

The 11-year-old girl was in the arcade in a shopping centre in Haymarket when she was approached by a man she didn’t know just after 2pm.

The young girl told her family members she was indecently assaulted. Her family then alerted the authorities.

The man left the arcade but detective have now released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 40s, of medium build, with a shaved head and fair complexion.

He was seen wearing a black t-shirt, beige shorts, black shoes and socks, and carrying sunglasses.

Anyone with information, or anyone who knows the identity of the man, is urged to come forward.
