Manhunt underway after officer almost hit on the Gold Coast
A Gold Coast police officer has narrowly escaped serious injury, after almost getting hit by a car in Broadbeach this afteroon.
Members of the public first put in the call to police about suspicious activity – believed to be drug related – on T.E. Peters Drive around 11.20am.
Officers attended and located two suspicious vehicles at the address – a blue Kia, and a grey Ford Falcon.
One of the officers approached the parked vehicles on foot, before the Ford Falcon tried to make a getaway.
The Ford reversed abruptly, almost knocking over the police officer, before speeding forward and trying to squeeze between the parked police car and a moving truck.
The car hit both vehicles, though still managed to get away.
The Kia also left fled the scene, with police unable to pursue.
A short time later, a blue Kia was located in Surfers Paradise, and police investigations are underway.
They’re searching for the people involved – believed to be a man and woman- as well as the grey Ford Falcon.
No officers or members of the public were injured in the incident.
