Manhunt underway after woman attacked while jogging in Gold Coast park

POLICE are hunting a man who allegedly attacked a woman and tried dragging her into bushes in broad daylight as she jogged through parklands on the Gold Coast.

Police said the 43-year-old woman was jogging along a path which weaves through thick bushland behind Castello Circuit at Varsity Lakes around 8.15am on Boxing Day when she was accosted.

It’s alleged the man grabbed the woman from behind and tried dragging her into the bush.

Police said the woman fought back and managed to break free from the man’s grip and run out of the park.

The woman was treated for a minor injury to her wrist which she sustained during the assault, police said.

Officers are still actively searching for the man, described only as Caucasian in appearance, who remains at large.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time or has any information that may assist with their investigations to come forward.
