Man’s $1100 Adidas ‘Yeezy’ sneakers stolen at knifepoint

A MAN has been threatened with a knife and had his ‘Yeezy’ sneakers stolen during a terrifying armed robbery in Dulwich Hill.

The 22-year-old man had advertised the shoes, a pair of Addidas Yeezy 750 triple black SD sneakers designed by Kanye West, for sale on the internet for $1100.

About 7.30pm on Monday, the man had arranged to meet a buyer who said he was interested in purchasing the shoes.

After trying the shoes on, the buyer then pulled a knife out of his backpack and threatened the seller forcing him to leave the park without his shoes or payment.

Officers believe the same man may be responsible for the theft of a $1000 jacket earlier in the night.

“We believe this incident may be linked to a stealing that occurred earlier, where a man advertised the sale of a jacket worth $1000 on the internet,” police said in a statement.

“The seller orgainsed to meet the prospective buyer near Arlington light rail station. The prospective buyer turned up to the agreed location and ran away with the jacket prior to payment.”

On each occasion the man has been described as Aboriginal/Torrens Strait Islander in appearance and about 170cm tall with a medium build and aged about 16.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black hooded jumper and black track pants.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at Marrickville or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
