Man’s car stolen after being ambushed in McDonald’s carpark

A man’s allegedly been assaulted and had his car stolen from the carpark of a McDonalds restaurant on the Gold Coast after being confronted by three teenagers.

It’s alleged the man was sitting in his 4WD at the Tugun fast-food restaurant around 10.50pm on Thursday, when an object was thrown at his vehicle.

Police said the man got out of his car to investigate, when he was approached by three teenage boys, aged 18, 16 and 13.

The 18-year-old then jumped into the driver’s seat of the 4WD and sped off.

Police said the two other teens then allegedly assaulted the man at the scene, before they got onto a bus and headed north.

The stolen vehicle was found abandoned on Marine Parade in Biggera Waters just before midnight, while the three teenagers were arrested nearby in Labrador a short time later.

The 18-year-old has since been charged with robbery with violence and appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
