Man’s face ‘sliced open’ in brutal beer bottle attack

A MAN will need to undergo surgery after having a beer bottle smashed in his face at a house party in Sydney.

It happened at a home on Arden Street at Coogee around 1am on Sunday.

Police said a 24-year-old man allegedly walked up to a 25-year-old man in the backyard and struck him in the face with a beer bottle.

The glass shattered and sliced open the older man’s face.

The younger man then allegedly continued to beat the 25-year-old after he fell to the ground before running off.

Police said bystanders helped the injured man and rendered first aid until paramedics arrived.

They transported the man to the Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.

Police said the man sustained “multiple lacerations” to his face and will need to “undergo further treatment” in hospital.

A crime scene was established at the Arden Street address and examined by forensic police.

Police are appealing for information to help find the 24-year-old man responsible for the attack.
