Mark Spencer’s parents appeal for public help to catch his killer

THE distraught parents of Mark Spencer who was beaten to death on the back porch of his Coomera home on Wednesday morning have this afternoon pleaded for anyone with any information surround their son’s death to come forward.

His parents, Julie and Peter, travelled to the Gold Coast from their home on the NSW south coast and have made an emotional plea for the public to help find their son’s killer.

“We’ve come along way up here to hopefully hear a good result and take our boy home,” Peter Spencer said.

“Any help at all, any snippet of information, no matter how small it is, can maybe help.

“Mark is no saint, he’s been a bit of a rascal in his life, but he’s been our rascal.”

A housemate of Mark’s raised the alarm after finding his bloodied body on their back varendah around 4am on Wednesday.

It’s understood a balaclava-clad man wielding a metal pole was seen running from the scene.

Police have asked to speak with anyone who was on Foxwell Road between midnight and 4am Wednesday morning, and are seeking CCTV footage from neighbouring properties.

“He’s my baby.” Julie Spencer said. “Not only have we lost a son, but there is two little children who have lost a father.”

“It’s like a piece of us has been broken away. He has been a rascal (but) he’s never done anything bad.

“You can rock up to his place any day and he’d give you the shirt of his back.

“If anyone knows anything, or has seen anything, please contact the Coomera police. I can not speak highly enough of them. They’ve been absolutely wonderful and have helped us all the way through this,” Mrs Spencer said.
