Maroons clear Cronk to play Origin series opener

Most Origin fans knew he was never really in any doubt of missing the opening clash in Sydney tonight, but Queensland has finally confirmed, Cooper Cronk will run on against NSW.

The star play-maker hurt his ankle during training at the Maroons Sanctuary Cove camp on Friday.

Coach Kevin Walters gave the Melbourne halfback until game day to decide if he was able to play in what’s expected to be a very physical battle between the two states.
