EARLIER @ 8.00 AM: QUEENSLAND selectors have been forced to hold off on announcing the team for State of Origin III as they grapple with an injury crisis.

On Sunday night, the QRL confirmed Greg Inglis will not be available for selection for the July 11 dead rubber in Brisbane after breaking his thumb in South Sydney’s win over the Cowboys in Cairns.

It is expected Billy Slater will be handed the captaincy for his final Origin clash when the Maroons team is unveiled later this morning.

The news of Inglis’ injury came just hours after it was confirmed rookie superstar Kalyn Ponga was ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

Sydney Roosters prop Dylan Napa (knee) may also be an Origin III scratching.

There is speculation Daly Cherry-Evans could be called into the squad as halfback.
