Massive blaze engulfs multiple buildings in Brisbane
Fire fighters have spent the morning battling a huge blaze in Brisbane’s south.
It broke out in a boarding house on Vulture Street around 6.00am, soon engulfing nearby units and a commercial property.
Crews initially got the boarding house under control, though it’s believed to have re-sparked shortly before 8.00am.
Vulture Street is closed as a result, in both directions, as crews try to contain the blaze.
Everyone from the boarding house have been accounted for, and around 30 residents from a nearby retirement village reportedly self-evacuated.
No one has been reported injured in the blaze.
#Update: there’s quite a lot of smoke as a result of a fire that’s engulfed 2 structures in #SouthBrisbane. We encourage people in the vicinity of the smoke to close their windows & doors & if you suffer respiratory distress, to seek assistance immediately, call Triple Zero (000) pic.twitter.com/Xkuh7JvNve
