MasterChef judge pleads guilty to assault

Celebrity chef George Calombaris has owned up to assaulting a man after losing his cool following the A-League grand final in Sydney.

The hot-headed MasterChef judge ended up with egg on his face back in May when video of the incident went viral and he was charged with common assault.

The 38-year-old was seen shoving the 19-year-old, in the stands of Allianz Stadium following the match between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC.

The father of two issued an apology and a statement the following day, claiming the teenager had spent part of the match heckling him and his family.

“I was offended by a spectator yelling out abusive and derogatory comments about my family,” he said.

Calombaris didn’t face the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, however his barrister, Brendan Green, entered a guilty plea on behalf of his client.

He will be sentenced on September 8.
