Mates lucky to be alive following shocking crash in NSW

TWO young men are in hospital with serious injuries after being cut from the wreckage of a horror crash in NSW.

The accident happened on Silverdale Road at Wollondilly, in Sydney’s south-west, on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called shortly after 4.30pm and arrived to find a Subaru wrapped around a power pole.


Police said the young driver and his passenger, both aged 19, were trapped in the vehicle for some time.

They were eventually cut free from the wreck by Fire & Rescue NSW, and members from the Rural Fire Service.

Both men were treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital with serious injuries.

One man was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital while the second was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

Police said one of the men sustained a broken leg and shattered pelvis in the collision.

A crime scene was established and exmained by the Crash Investigation Unit.
