Mates lucky to be alive after midnight crash in southeast Queensland

THREE young men are lucky to be alive after the car they were in smashed into a tree north of Brisbane.

The car was travelling along Forgan Road at Joyner when the accident happened shortly after midnight.

Police said the vehicle appeared to have lost control before leaving the road and hitting a tree at 12.10am.

A 19-year-old man sustained serious leg injuries in the collision. It’s understood he was a passenger in the car.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, and a second 19-year-old passenger escaped the wreck with only minor injuries.

All three young men were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
