Maxine Fraser wins 1029 Hot Tomato’s Gold Coast Nursing Award

A John Flynn Private Hospital midwife has won 1029 Hot Tomato’s Gold Coast Nursing Award for August after receiving numerous nominations.

Maxine Fraser told myGC she was absolutely thrilled to take out this month’s award. “It’s an absolute honour to win. I am so excited and proud,” she said.

Maxine said she loved being a midwife and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. “I don’t know why people don’t want to be a midwife. It’s an amazing process – I am so fortunate to be able to look after and share in the labour and birthing experience with so many women,” she said.

It’s clear Maxine loves her job, with many of her patients telling myGC they couldn’t have asked for a better midwife.

“Maxine left me with the most amazing memories and feelings from my experience at becoming a first time mum.  She was so supportive, encouraging and loving; it was just like having your mum in the room,” wrote one woman in her nomination. While another added, “Maxine goes above and beyond, she is caring and loves spending time taking care of people with their new families. For Maxine it’s not just a choice of career but her passion. Maxine forms special bonds with people, it’s just her way.”

Along with a certificate, Maxine wins $250 and is now a finalist in the Annual Award where she will share in cash and prizes of over $5,000.

“You don’t do the work for the recognition, but it’s amazing to be rewarded as part of this wonderful initiative. Thank you to everyone who nominated me, and a huge thanks to Hot Tomato,” Maxine said.
