GLENN Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson had days they’d rather forget but the news from the Indian Premier League was much brighter for fellow Aussies Shane Watson and James Faulkner.

Eight Australians were in action in the IPL overnight and their performances ranged from sublime to shocking.

Maxwell, playing in his first match since being dropped by Kings XI Punjab, was eager to make up for lost time but in the end it was his eagerness that got the better of him.

The all-rounder made 12 off nine balls before being dismissed after edging a trademark reverse sweep and being caught at third man.
