Ms Andrews said this is a win for patients on the southern Gold Coast, because the statistics prove more people are benefiting from Medicare.
“Here on the southern Gold Coast over 482,000 GP services were bulk billed from July to December 2017, growing from 462,000 the previous year,” she said.
Although more Australians are using bulk-billing, Health Minister Greg Hunt says the Government will endeavour to address the large and sometimes unanticipated out-of-pocket medical fees that some patients face.
“Our commitment to Medicare is rock solid and the figures released today show that under the Turnbull Government, Medicare is providing more support to Australian patients than ever before,” he said.
