Meghan Markle to miss scheduled engagements on royal couple’s Qld visit

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will travel to Fraser Island for their much-anticipated Queensland visit on Monday, however Royal fans may not be able to see the pregnant Duchess of Sussex.

Kensington Palace confirmed Meghan will not take part in any of the couple’s official engagements in Queensland over the next few days as she needs some time to rest following a busy week.

“It’s been an exhausting week, and although the Duchess hasn’t had any morning sickness, she has been very tired,” Royal correspondent Emily Andrews said on Twitter.

The news comes after Meghan pulled out of attending the cycling event at the Invictus Games in Sydney on Sunday morning following a tight back-to-back schedule.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to touch down in Fraser Island (K’gari) today, where a plaque will be unveiled, dedicating the site to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.

The day will include Prince Harry meeting with local elders of the Butchulla People and National Park rangers to learn about the cultural significance of the world’s largest sand island and its rich biodiversity.

There will also be a traditional Welcome to Country Smoking Ceremony and visit a beach to hear about the island’s logging history.

It was revealed the much-loved royal couple were expecting a baby last week. The announcement was made on the day the Duke and Duchess arrived in Australia.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the statement read.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
