Melbourne anti-terror raids reportedly linked to ‘Tinnie Five’

Raids are reportedly being carried out across Melbourne, in relation to the five so called ‘Tinnie Terrorists’.

The group is preparing to be extradited from Cairns to Melbourne to face court on Thursday, after being nabbed in far north Queensland a week ago.

It’s alleged they had towed a seven-metre fishing boat from Melbourne in a bid to launch it from Cape York and make their way to Indonesia before setting off to join ISIL in Syria.

The five men could face life behind bars if found guilty of the charge of making preparations for incursions into foreign countries to engage in hostile activities.

Today, properties in Melbourne’s north and northwest were being raided by the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team
