Melbourne motorcyclist killed, flung through the air in horror crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has died after being thrown from his bike in a horror crash in Melbourne’s south-east this morning.

The accident happened at the intersection of Elora and Centre roads in Oakleigh South around 6.15am.

Police said an eastbound motorcycle slammed into a Ford station wagon which had been travelling north.

The motorcycle rider, an unidentified man, was ejected from his bike and catapulted through the air.

Police said he sustained life-threatening injuries and died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Officers arrested the driver of the Ford, a 53-year-old local man, at the scene. He is currently assisting police with their investigation.

Detectives from the Major Collision Unit are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
