Men charged after two dramatic burglaries in Broadbeach

TWO men have been charged after a two dramatic burglaries in Broadbeach on Monday night.

It’s alleged the pair broke into a unit on Old Burleigh Road around 7.00pm and were in the middle of stealing property when they were disturbed by the occupants of the home.


One of the men jumped out of a bathroom window to get away but he was chased down by the residents who managed to detain him.

A 47-year-old woman sustained an injury to her hand and a 17-year-old man received facial injuries during the incident.


The second man smashed his was through a glass sliding door before breaking into another unit on Australia Avenue.

It’s understood he tried to climb down a balcony to escape when he fell five metres onto a cement driveway.

He sustained a dislocated toe and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of burglary.

The other 29-year-old man was charged with one count each of burglary and enter dwelling with intent.
