‘Miracle’ makeover at Uni Hospital for mums and bubs

FAMILIES facing weeks of visiting their premature and unwell babies in Gold Coast University Hospital’s Newborn Care Unit have been gifted a sanctuary courtesy of the kindness of strangers.

An indoor courtyard within the unit has received a ‘miracle’ makeover, providing families with an oasis from the medical surrounds of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Nursery (SCN).

The ‘miracle’ is because donations of furniture and time meant the $12,000 refurbishment ultimately cost less than half that amount, with the remaining $5500 funded by a Gold Coast Hospital Foundation grant.
