Miss World Australia contestant dies in hospital following horror Qld crash
A teenage Miss World Australia contestant has died in hospital following a horror car crash in Far North Queensland last week.
The 17-year-old suffered critical injuries when her car collided head-on with another vehicle at Dimbulah on August 3.
Police confirmed the teen tragically lost her fight for life this morning.
“A 17-year-old woman critically injured in a traffic crash at Dimbulah has passed away this morning in hospital,” police said.
“The woman from Dimbulah was the sole occupant of one vehicle, and was transported to the Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.”
The driver of the other vehicle, a 24-year-old woman, and passenger, a 20-year-old woman, were both transported to Cairns Base Hospital with minor injuries.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
