[Update] AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy who went missing in a Newcastle reserve, sparking a major land and air search, has been found and reunited with his father.
The youngster was reported missing about 4pm after running off from his father in a reserve off Freyberg Street.
He was found safe and well just before 5.30pm.

[Earlier] A MAJOR land and air search is currently underway for a child reported missing in Newcastle.
It’s understood the 11-year-old boy was with his father in a Richley Reserve, near Freyberg Street, in the suburb of New Lambton when he ran off just after 4pm.
He was last seen wearing a red flannel shirt and brown pants.
Police say the reserve is surrounded by bushland and concerns are held for his welfare.
Scores of police are, with the assistance from the dog squad and PolAir, conducting an extensive search of the area.
