Missing autistic boy believed headed for Queensland with biological mum

UPDATE at 1:45 PM SUNDAY | POLICE investigating the disappearance of an 11-year-old boy from Sydney’s west have located a car they had initially believed he may be travelling in.

Jacob Lavender was last seen about 7.30pm on Saturday in the backyard of a home on Sedgeman Crescent at Shalvey. He has not been seen since.

Police initially released a photo of a blue 2006 Hyundai Elantra they thought he may be travelling in with his biological mother on Saturday night but now say the vehicle has no link to the boys disappearance.

It is thought the boy may have been taken from the Shalvey home by his biological mother who is believed to be travelling to Queensland.

Police say they hold concerns for Jacob’s welfare as he has severe autism.

Jacob is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 120cm tall, with a thin build and brown hair.

When he was last seen, Jacob was wearing grey and black coloured boxer shorts with no shirt or shoes.

Anyone with information about his location is urged to contact triple zero (000) immediately.

FIRST at 2:30 AM SUNDAY | POLICE were last night appealing for urgent help to find an autistic 11-year-old boy, snatched from the backyard of a home in Sydney’s west.

Jacob Lavender suffers from severe autism and was last seen in the backyard of a home on Sedgeman Crescent in Shalvey around 7.30pm on Saturday.

Police investigating Jacob’s disappearance believe he may have been taken by his biological mother who is thought to be travelling to Queensland.

“When the boy [Jacob] was unable to be located, his disappearance was reported to police at Mount Druitt,” police said in a statement.

“A search of the surrounding area was commenced but officers were unable to locate the boy.

“[police] now believe he may be travelling to Queensland with his biological mother.”
