Missing jet ski rider located safe and well

UPDATE: A jet ski rider reported missing in waters off the northern Gold Coast has been located safe and well.

Police say the man was located by officers at the boat ramp – where the two men had departed earlier this morning.

“The man had turned around and returned to the boat ramp without the other jet ski rider realising,” police said in a statement.

EARLIER: An extensive sea and air search is currently underway for a man reported missing in waters off the northern Gold Coast.

Police say at around 8.40am, a man and the jet ski he was riding were reported missing in waters off Jacobs Well.

There are reports the man was last seen crossing the Jumpinpin Bar between North and South Stradbroke Islands at the time he disappeared.

Gold Coast Water Police, Volunteer Marine Rescue and the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter are involved in the desperate search.

It is understood two men had been jet skiing in the area when one of the men noticed that the second jet ski was missing and contacted authorities.

Unfortunately, police have no further information to release at this time.
